2023 – Five-Day Workshop on Environmental Health and Sustainability, powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Innovations – 3rd Oct to 7th Oct 2023


The Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering at Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, in collaboration with IIC-RIT and EDC, are proud to announce the organization of a Faculty Development Program on “Environmental Health and Sustainability – Powered by Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.” This program will be conducted in an offline mode and is scheduled to take place from October 3, 2023, to October 7, 2023.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are essential in today’s engineering landscape, and integrating IoT into the curriculum is imperative. This workshop caters to faculty, students, and research scholars, even those without prior computer or programming knowledge. It is specifically designed to support faculty in establishing an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-based Environmental Health and Sustainability Laboratory, and these concepts can be adapted to other disciplines as well.

The workshop was conducted in the Computer Laboratory at the Department of Computer Science, specifically focusing on AI & ML and Cyber Security, located on Level 4 of the Multipurpose Block at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.

Dr. Thippeswamy M.N.. Professor and HoD, Departments of CSE (AI &ML) and CSE (Cyber security), Ramaiah Institute of Technology Bangalore delivered a talk during the workshop sessions on Pandas and NumPy.

Dr. Sini Anna Alex, Associate Professor, Departments of CSE (AI &ML) and CSE (Cyber security), Ramaiah Institute of Technology Bangalore delivered a talk on Basics of Python.

During the workshop on Environmental Health and Sustainability, Vishwanath Srikantaiah, Director of Biome Environmental Solutions and Visiting Faculty at the School of Development, Azim Premji University, delivered an insightful presentation. He focused on the critical topic of water conservation in Bangalore and shared valuable information regarding the abundant data resources available in the city, as well as potential alternatives and solutions for sustainable water management. Mr. Srikantaiah’s expertise shed light on the pressing issue of water conservation and offered a pathway towards a more environmentally conscious and sustainable future for Bangalore.

Harsh SinghalHead of Data Science & Machine Learning at Koo, India gave an insightful lecture on Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT in environmental Science and Sustainability.

Dr Arulalan Rajan, Visiting Professor Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru shared his views and importance of LaTeX in data science and Machine Learning.
